International Directors' Group

A group of all U21's Directors of International Relations, Vice-Presidents of International Affairs, Directors of International Strategy or equivalent.

The U21 International Directors’ group was first established in 2006 and has gone through a series of changes to reach its present form, currently under the convenorship of Jennie Lang, Executive Director of UNSW International.

Membership of the group is predominantly Directors of International Relations, Vice-Presidents of International Affairs, Directors of International Strategy or equivalent.

 The group’s goals are:

  • to share best practice and exchange ideas, strategies and policies on innovative approaches to internationalisation for the benefit of U21 institutions and the wider academic and educational community;
  • to identify and develop a range of strategically important benchmarking and evaluation studies and projects of benefit to all participating universities;
  • to seek to increase the provision of student events under the Universitas 21 banner, particularly focusing on Summer Schools and Undergraduate Research Conferences;
  • to look to collaborate on promoting theUniversitas 21brand through presenting joint papers, holding joint events and utilising the opportunities offered at international conferences.

U21 currently has a pilot project to use ISB to focus its own benchmarking activities in relation to international students in the coming months.  This will enabled us to identify areas of good practice, as well a areas for collaborative learning in the future.  More work on this and other initiatives will be taken forward by the International Directors’ group, in consultation with U21 Managers.

The group’s next meeting will take place at Lund University on 8 May 2012 and all are welcome.
